The ruling Democratic Party of Socialists is proposing to introduce an excursion fee for visiting Perast, one of the most beautiful towns in the Bay of Kotor.
Perast needs more care and attention than before. It is necessary to create a sustainable basis for the development of local infrastructure and the improvement of living conditions, the official statement from the Kotor branch of the party says. The DPS cites the Old Town in Kotor as an example. In the first seven months, 305,000 people visited it as part of group tours. By the end of the year, at least 550,000 are expected. With a charge of 1 euro per person (for tourist groups of 5 or more), the municipality's expected revenue will reach 550,000 euros. In the municipality of Kotor, the second most popular town is Perast. Revenue from the excursion fee here could amount to at least 250,000 euros, the DPS notes.
