According to data from Montenegro’s Tax and Customs Administration, the highest monthly gross salary paid in the country from the beginning of 2022 through the end of September amounted to 116,796 euros.
This amount, which includes taxes and labor contributions, was paid to a foreigner employed in the entertainment and leisure sector. This is 131 average gross salaries, which, according to the Monstat statistical office, ranged from 875 to 887 euros since the beginning of this year.
The highest salary in the IT sector
An IT sector employee received the second-highest gross salary in Montenegro since the beginning of the year. In March, he was paid 115,250 euros.
Meanwhile, bank employees hold the top spot among Montenegro’s highest-paid workers, so five of the ten highest monthly incomes are paid in the money intermediation sector.
An employee of one of the 11 banks operating in the Montenegrin market received the third-highest gross salary since the beginning of the year, amounting to 99,400 euros.
A thousand euros less was received by his colleague, whose gross earnings are in fifth place and amount to 98,321 euros. A banker with a monthly gross income of 88,878 euros received slightly less, which is the seventh-highest salary. In eighth place is a banker’s salary of 73,317 euros, and in ninth place is the gross income of a banker, which amounted to 69,690 euros.
The sixth position was taken by an employee in the passenger air transport sector; for one month he was paid 93,256 euros. It is assumed that this is severance pay or a bonus.
The tenth-highest gross salary from January through the end of September was earned by a worker in business-related consulting activities. This consultant received 67,462 euros based on remuneration for work, taxes, and contributions.
According to Monstat, the highest-paid workers in Montenegro are in the financial and insurance sectors.
